West Ham: Romano shares big Lingard transfer update

Fabrizio Romano has now shared a major transfer update involving West Ham United manager David Moyes and long-time target Jesse Lingard.

The Lowdown: Moyes eyes move…

After his phenomenal 2020/2021 second-half loan spell at the London Stadium, where he bagged a brilliant nine goals and four assists over 16 Premier League appearances, Moyes has been attempting to bring Lingard back on a permanent deal.

As the Englishman is confirmed to be leaving Man United, West Ham perhaps now have their best chance to seal an agreement with no rival club standing in GSB’s way.

Personal terms are the only issue with Romano now sharing a big update on the Hammers’ plans for Lingard this summer.

The Latest: Romano shares Lingard update…

According to the transfer journalist, writing in an article for The Guardian, Moyes is personally ‘ready to step up his interest’ in Lingard and is ‘pushing to bring him back’.

The Scotsman is apparently ‘satisfied’ that the 29-year-old hasn’t lost ‘any motivation’ after spending the whole of 2021/2022 on the United periphery.

The Verdict: Next big move?

We believe West Ham and Lingard are still a match made in heaven, arguably even more so now that he is available on a free transfer.

The attacker’s obvious quality has been wasted at Old Trafford over this past year and Moyes is right to be determined to grant him a new lease of life at the London Stadium.

Nigel Winterburn summed up Lingard’s past contribution for the Irons best, raving over his ‘sensational’ 20/21 form for the east Londoners, and there is no reason to believe he couldn’t repeat those heroics next season.

Wolves must land Calvin Bassey transfer

Wolves may have only finished 10th in the Premier League this season, but they managed to do so with a respectable defensive record.

Over 38 games, Bruno Lage’s side conceded 43 goals in total, which is fewer than the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, West Ham United and Leicester City, all of whom finished above them in the table.

One man who played a big part in Wolves’ impressive defence this season is Max Kilman.

Over 30 league matches, the Englishman won 33 tackles and made 52 blocks, 64 interceptions and 118 clearances.

To further highlight the defender’s talent and impact on the team, in the final six league games of the season that he missed through injury, Wolves did not keep one clean sheet, conceding 15 goals in the process.

Now that the season has ended and the summer transfer window is about to open, one man who has been linked with a move to Molineux and who could give Lage the chance to form a scary defensive duo alongside Kilman is Calvin Bassey.

Since joining Rangers two years ago, the defender has gone on to make 65 appearances for the Glasgow club across all competitions, chipping in with one goal and six assists.

In terms of his defensive capabilities, the 22-year-old made 20 interceptions and won 28 tackles in 29 Scottish Premiership games this season. Also, his performance in the Europa League final which saw Rangers lose on penalties against Eintracht Frankfurt was described as “astonishing” by BT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves.

This shows just how capable the defender is of playing on the big stage and stepping up for his team when it matters most.

Regarding a potential move to Wolves this summer, the fact that the defender has been deployed as a centre-back and as a left-back through the 2021/22 season could make him a useful squad option for Lage.

Taking into account Kilman’s clear significance to the team, as was unfortunately highlighted during the final weeks of the campaign, having him at the back alongside Bassey could be a scary prospect for opposing teams next season.

With a reported price tag of £25m, luring the Rangers star away from Ibrox and to the Premier League is definitely something that Lage and the Wolves hierarchy should consider as the summer transfer window approaches.

Leeds: Whites handed Minamino boost

Leeds United appear to have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino, as his club are now green lighting a summer exit.

The lowdown: Marsch’s Old Boys

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch has already been reunited with Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen from Red Bull Salzburg.

Also linked with a move for exciting young attacker Junior Adamu in recent days, the 48-year old-coach appears to be determined to bring as many of his tried and trusted players to Yorkshire as possible.

Now, after Leeds were previously credited with an interest in Minamino, it seems as though Marsch could well be about to make a swoop for yet another Red Bull alum.

The latest: Liverpool open to sale

As per Lynch for TIA, Leeds are among the clubs keen to land the Japan international this summer and the Reds are now ‘willing’ to sanction a departure for their domestic cup hero.

It’s claimed that Wolves, Southampton, AS Monaco and newly promoted Fulham are also interested in the 27-year-old, who provided a staggering 20 direct goal involvements in just 22 outings under Marsch in Austria before heading to the Premier League.

The report also states that Liverpool will demand a fee in the region of £17million for the man praised for ‘outstanding’ UEFA Champions League outings by Liverpool journalist Jack Sear.

The verdict: Make it happen

Equally adept on either wing as well as in central positions, Minamino boasts wide ranging versatility that would be welcomed to the Elland Road squad by Marsch.

Despite rarely stealing the limelight in the Premier League or Champions League for Liverpool, the 40-cap Japan star was the man of the moment in the domestic cups last term as he ended the season with ten goals and one assist from 24 outings across all competitions, most notably notching four strikes in five Carabao Cup appearances.

With Leeds somewhat at loggerheads with their own attacking phenomenon Raphinha, adding Minamino to the fold for the mooted fee would be a sensational piece of business, particularly given the forward’s previous performances for Marsch.

Leeds must sign Tyler Adams

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch is set for his first transfer window in charge of the club this summer after keeping the team in the top-flight.

He replaced Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road and secured another season in the Premier League by beating Brentford 2-1 on the final day of the campaign, relegating Burnley in the process.

The Lillywhites boss will now have his first opportunity to bring his own players to the club as he starts to shape the team that he wants to build.

One player who has already been linked with a move to Yorkshire is RB Leipzig’s Tyler Adams. MLS insider Tom Bogert has claimed that Leeds will be in for the midfielder in the coming months.

His own Joshua Kimmich

German manager Ralf Rangnick, most recently of Manchester United, previously compared the American international to the Bayern Munich star. He said:

“Like Joshua (Kimmich), Tyler has an unbelievable will to win. He wants to win every match and every training game. He wants to improve and listens. He’s never satisfied. The sky is the limit.”

Adams responded to these comments by saying: “It’s an honor to be compared with one of the best players in Europe. I’ve known Ralf [Rangnick] for some time now, and I highly regard his opinion because he’s an extraordinary expert in football. So, I’m flattered by his remarks.”

Kimmich has played 299 games for Bayern and won seven Bundesliga titles and the Champions League. He is also valued at £76.50m by Transfermarkt and this illustrates why it was a huge comparison for Rangnick to make at the time.

That is not to say that Adams will go on to be as good as the German international, or achieve as much, but he can be Leeds’ own version of him for where they are in the football food chain.

The Leipzig man already has four Bundesliga seasons under his belt by the age of 23 and has showcased his bite in midfield as well as his versatility. Like Kimmich, he can play at right-back and in central midfield and has made 3.1 tackles and interceptions per game on average throughout his career.

He is a young player with the potential to improve and a mentality comparable with a decorated midfield star and that is why Leeds must sign him this summer.

The machine can be an excellent addition to the team with his ability to win the ball back in the middle of the park and his scope to develop further in the years to come.

AND in other news, Huge transfer twist emerges that will have Leeds United supporters buzzing…

WBA can save millions with Jovan Malcolm

West Bromwich Albion recently secured their first incoming deal of the summer transfer window as the club announced that they had signed John Swift on a three-year contract from Reading as a free agent.

Given how Baggies boss Steve Bruce previously spoke about the possibility of there being a significant overhaul at the club during the summer, it’s safe to say that they may have got the ball rolling with Swift’s arrival.

However, one man who could well go on to have a big future at The Hawthorns and who, in a similar vein to Swift, wouldn’t cost the club a penny in transfer fees is Jovan Malcolm.

Bruce can save millions with Malcolm

A product of the club’s youth system, the 19-year-old has made a combined 54 appearances for West Brom’s under-18 and under-23 sides. In that time, the centre-forward has scored 23 goals and delivered four assists along the way.

The teenager has also had two loan spells away from the Midlands club with Solihull Moors and Accrington Stanley.

Labelled a “powerful centre-forward [who] loves scoring goals and can adapt to play anywhere across the frontline” according to Albion youth coach Peter Gilbert, Malcolm has yet to make a senior appearance for the Baggies.

Taking into account how West Brom found scoring goals rather difficult at times during their recent Championship campaign, having an attacking talent like the Baggies prodigy in and around the first team could be hugely beneficial for them.

Also, with Swift racking up 11 goals and 13 assists in 38 league games this season for Reading, having him playing behind or next to Malcolm could be just what the youngster needs in order to flourish in the first team if Bruce gives him the chance to play.

This could then give the team some much-needed dynamism and creativity in their midfield and attack, which may then put them in a good shape to get close to winning promotion back to the Premier League.

If Malcolm can work hard and impress Bruce in pre-season, there’s every chance that he’ll then be given his senior West Brom debut at some point in the campaign and potentially go on to become a regular figure in the team, saving the club millions in the process.

Everton transfer news on Alli

Everton could reportedly now sell Dele Alli alongside both Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer.

The Lowdown: Mass exodus?

Following the Merseyside club’s disappointing season, in which they are still battling relegation from the Premier League after Sunday’s disappointing result, there could well be a mass exodus at Goodison Park this summer.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/everton-news-5/” title=”Everton news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have been recently linked with moves away, and others could follow them out of the door if offers came in.

The Latest: Alli update

As per The Sun, the Toffees could look to sell Alli as well, if they are offered anything up to £20m for the former Tottenham Hotspur ace.

However, they would have to pay 25% of any fee received back to Spurs, and they would also receive a small bonus if he plays ten times, and a further £10m for 20 appearances.

The Verdict: Sell

It just has not worked out for Alli with the Blues, where he has managed no goals or assists in his nine appearances in the top flight, and has been limited to cameos off of the bench (Transfermarkt).

Described as a ‘fantastic talent’ by former Lilywhites manager Harry Redknapp back in March, the 26-year-old seems to have fallen out of love for football in truth, as he has even been accused of ‘clubbing too much’ instead.

Nonetheless, Frank Lampard does not seem to fancy him, and so the summer would present an ideal opportunity to part ways early, before the situation gets any worse.

Man City: Foden can seal the title for Pep

Manchester City can seal yet another Premier League title with victory over Aston Villa this afternoon, and Phil Foden can play a crucial part in getting them over the line.

On the Chalkboard

Pep Guardiola will face a selection dilemma as he prepares for his side’s biggest game of the season today. Just one point separates City and Liverpool heading into the final day and Guardiola will need to pick his best 11 to ensure there are no slip ups.

With a large squad to choose from it’ll be difficult to decide who deserves to start, but we think that their star attacking midfielder Phil Foden can make all the difference and should be brought back into the line-up after being benched last time out against West Ham United.

Yesterday the £100k-per-week Stockport born star was named the Premier League’s young player of the season for the second successive year, with his teammate Kevin de Bruyne picking up the more senior award.

He already has three league titles to his name and has been key in City’s run to try and retain the trophy. He’s made 27 league appearances in 2021/22 and directly contributed to 14 goals.

Given the amount of young talent in the Premier League, the fact he’s been named the best for two years running shows just how good he is, which makes it a no-brainer to start him against Villa.

He’s been described as “incredibly talented” by his manager and he certainly lives up to that billing.

Pep likes his team to put their opponents under huge pressure and if they are to nullify the threat Villa can pose then they can’t give them time on the ball.

When you compare Foden to other Premier League players in his position he ranks in the top 3% for pressures in the attacking third this season, this is key in allowing City to win the ball high and score as much as they do.

It’ll be goals that will ensure they don’t drop points and allow Liverpool to beat them to the trophy this afternoon. If they lose the title then there will be huge question marks over how City have come away with no silverware this season.

Those questions shouldn’t arise if Foden is unleashed by Guardiola.

Manchester United: Fred Rutten rejects Red Devils offer

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been dealt a coaching staff blow after Fred Rutten rejected a move to Old Trafford, as per The Metro.

The Lowdown: Ten Hag announced as United manager

The Dutchman was announced as the new Red Devils manager last month and is set to arrive at Old Trafford over the coming weeks when the current campaign ends.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-man-utd-updates/” title=”Latest Man Utd updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Ten Hag has signed a contract through to 2025 in Manchester but is still yet to secure deals for any coaching staff. Rutten was seemingly on his radar, but the experienced manager – who is currently working behind the scenes with NEC Nijmegen – won’t be heading to England.

The Latest: Rutten rejects Man United move

As per The Metro on Sunday, Rutten has turned down the chance to join Ten Hag at United after holding talks with the 52-year-old.

He has instead agreed to join the coaching staff of former Red Devils striker Ruud van Nistelrooy at PSV Eindhoven ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The Verdict: Van der Gaag key?

Ten Hag was seemingly keen for Rutten to join him in England after talks, so this update is a big blow to the new United manager. However, Ten Hag’s current assistant Mitchell van der Gaag has been linked with following his boss to Old Trafford this summer, with Fabrizio Romano revealing that an agreement is now getting closer.

He has been described as an ‘important addition’, so hopefully the Red Devils manager will have better news when it comes to Van der Gaag as Ten Hag looks to get his backroom team confirmed ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Doing that will allow him to focus fully on new additions and who knows, he could ask Van der Gaag for his thoughts on potential signings, should a move go through.

Man Utd plot mega bid for Victor Osimhen

Manchester United are acting on a mega-money bid that would see Napoli striker Victor Osimhen trade the Serie A for the Premier League if it all comes to fruition.

What’s the word?

That is according to La Repubblica, via Sport Witness, who claim that Manchester United “have already come forward” for the 23-year-old striker “with an offer of €100 million” (£84m).

Corriere dello Sport’s report is along the same lines, with the outlet stating that Manchester United and Arsenal “may make a sacrifice (a big bid) that would make him happy.”

The report states that “Napoli would not falter” if they were “faced with an indecent proposal worth €110 million” (£92.5m), but would “let the deal happen.”

United’s “Lion Heart”

If there is one thing that Manchester United need in the side, it is heart. Previously dubbed a “Lion Heart”, Osimhen brings that in abundance.

The 23-year-old has had a tough upbringing. His mother died when he was still a child and his father lost his job three months later. He sold bottled water in the middle of traffic to help his family get by financially.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-man-united-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-and-more-nunez-ten-hag-nkunku-richarlison” title=”Read the latest Man United news!”]

It seems as though his work ethic has transitioned into his play style on the pitch, with Osimhen willing to graft from the front in order to win back possession for his side. The Nigeria international’s match average of 10.31 pressures in the attacking third are elite level, as per FBref, and fit perfectly with the pressing system that Erik ten Hag will seek to employ at the Old Trafford side.

Osimhen is enjoying yet another prosperous season at Napoli in Serie A, with his five times in a row.

With two goals) combined.

With his average of 3.89 shots total per 90, he pips that of Erling Haaland’s average of 3.65, with the Norwegian previously linked.

His threat up top could see him become a talismanic figure for the Red Devils, and with his link as a similar player to Erling Haaland, as per FBref, he could well be United’s version of the Dortmund sensation.

Leeds given permission to talk to Ramsay

Leeds United have been given permission to talk to Aberdeen youngster Calvin Ramsay ahead of a potential move, according to a new report.

The Lowdown: Ramsay link emerges

The 18-year-old has emerged as arguably one of the most exciting young players in Scotland, shining with his performances for Aberdeen.

Ramsay has 18 Scottish Premiership starts to his name this season, despite his tender years, and he has been described as an ‘elite’ young full-back by Dons chairman Dave Cormack.

Leeds have been linked with a move for the Scot in recent days but they are unlikely to be alone in showing an interest in the coming weeks and months.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-leeds-united-news-40/” title=”Latest Leeds United news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Latest: Leeds given green light

Now, a new update has emerged, with Football Insider claiming that Aberdeen will allow Ramsay to talk to the Whites over a possible move across the border to the Premier League.

An FI source claims they are ‘ready to cash in’ on one of their most prized assets and will demand a ‘significant’ seven-figure fee for his services.

[freshpress-quiz id=“383507″]

The Verdict: One for the future

Ramsay looks like an exceptional prospect already, so the idea of Leeds beating others to his signature is hugely exciting.

He wouldn’t be considered an immediate starter for Jesse Marsch’s side, given his age, but he is someone who would be both a squad player and a potential star man for the future.

The fact that Liverpool are also keen on signing Ramsay speaks volumes about his level of promise, and if Leeds got their first it would suggest they are moving in the right direction under Marsch, securing a long-term replacement for fan favourite Luke Ayling.
