Najam Sethi, the suspended PCB chairman, has attributed the Pakistan board’s ongoing existential crisis to “extraordinary judicial intervention”. He wrote an op-ed in the , the weekly newspaper of which he is editor-in-chief, questioning the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) rulings by which two chairmen have been suspended in past five months, leaving the board’s administration in a state of turmoil.The PCB currently is without a chairman, and this has left it in “disarray” and “losing billions”, Sethi wrote. “An extraordinary judicial intervention in the affairs of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has thrown everything and everyone into confusion, disarray and gridlock,” Sethi wrote in his article headlined “This is not cricket”. “Worse, it is threatening to post huge financial, administrative and sporting losses on the only tax-paying national sport institution in the country.”The PCB is incurring financial losses of billions by delaying urgent financial, administrative and sporting decisions. The matter needs to be brought to a fair, just and constitutional closure as early as possible by the honourable judges in the national interest.”Sethi was appointed interim chairman of the PCB in June 2013 – for a 90-day period – after the IHC suspended former PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf over questions about the legality of the elections conducted to appoint him. In July, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui set a deadline of October 18 for the PCB to hold fresh elections for the chairman. Sethi failed to hold those elections and instead, on October 15 just before the deadline, the prime minister of Pakistan – the new patron of the PCB according to the court – Nawaz Sharif, dissolved the governing board of the PCB, and formed a five-member IMC, headed by Sethi, to administer cricket. Then, on October 28, Justice Siddiqui suspended Sethi from his role as IMC head for not complying with the earlier legal order to elect a permanent PCB chairman by October 18.In his order that directed the board to organise fresh elections, Justice Siddiqui had also ordered a comprehensive makeover of the PCB. The 30-page judgement, asked for changes in the structure of the PCB, questioned the appointment of the selection committee, as well as the board’s financial and recruitment affairs. According to his order, a candidate competing for the post of chairman had to be an ex-first-class cricketer, a graduate.Traditionally in Pakistan Cricket, the nomination of the chairman has come from the president of Pakistan, and the post has rarely been filled by an ex-cricketer. Sethi objected to this direction of the court in his article. “Nowhere in the cricketing world is the head of any board a first-class or Test cricketer elected directly by a general body,” he wrote. “The reason for this is that the basic functions of cricket boards are financial and managerial, with only sporting activities guided by committees headed by ex-sportsmen.”The fact that Sethi has written a piece about it in his position as editor of the weekly is likely to lead to more raised eyebrows of those who worry about the potential conflicts of interest in Sethi being a chairman and prominent media personality. Already questions have been asked, especially after the PCB awarded broadcast rights of Pakistan’s series with Sri Lanka in the UAE later this year to Geo Super, a sports channel owned by the same media group with which Sethi doubles as a popular political talk show host.

ووفقًا لصحيفة “UOL” البرتغالية، فإن فلومينينسي يسعى إلى التمسك بخدمات أندريه حتى نهاية الموسم الحالي في الدوري البرازيلي.

England’s batting coach Graham Gooch has warned that some more pain might be in store next summer before a rebuilt side begins to show signs of improvement.As England face up to uncomfortable changes in their playing personnel, Gooch also believes that the entire backroom staff will be desperate to keep their jobs and be given another opportunity to put things right after the Ashes debacle.Gooch might be imagined to be one of the people most in the firing line. England’s loss of their first five wickets for 23 in Sydney on the second day was their fifth worst start in Test history. They have also only made one century in the series – that from a novice, Ben Stokes, playing in only his second Test.”Everyone has to look at themselves,” Gooch said. The coaches, the players; we’re all going to be under scrutiny, quite rightly, and we all have to take it on the chin and we have to take the criticism.”If you play the way we play, the brutal truth is it’s not been good enough. We have to look for ways to move forward and ways to improve and that might entail taking some more pain before it gets better. Obviously there will be a rebuilding process. I don’t make those decisions but I’ve been here before many times.”Everyone on this tour would not like to leave under the circumstances of this tour and the debris of this tour. 4-0 down and behind the 8 ball in the fifth game is not the way you want to leave. You have to take responsibility as well. You try to give insight, give ideas, you try and condition the players to what they’re going to face, and how to think and how to construct innings, and the knowledge as well as the skills, as well as the technique. You do your best. Plainly, we’ve not had the effect and I’ve not had the effect that I would’ve liked in this series.”Over a little period now, we’ve not been getting the runs. Ian Bell played brilliantly in the summer and held our batting together. In Australia, possibly the fourth afternoon at Perth, when Stokes and Bell were batting, was the only time they probably felt a little bit under pressure.”We all have to look at ourselves and our methods. Personally, I have total belief in the messages I give to the players but we’ll have to look at it and see whether there’s a better way. The powers that be will definitely be reviewing everyone after this series, as they do, and quite rightly. No captain is going to be happy with just being captain and not contributing. For me, he’s still a guy who’s learning and he’s still the guy who should be there when some sort of rebuilding takes place.”

O Grêmio inicia sua caminhada no Campeonato Brasileiro, neste domingo, às 11h (de Brasília), na Arena, contra o Santos, tendo em seu elenco um dos principais atacantes do país como uma das armas para acabar com o jejum de 23 anos sem vencer a competição nacional. Trata-se de Diego Tardelli, anunciado em fevereiro com status de uma das grandes contratações do país em 2019.

Depois de quatro temporadas na China, onde brilhou com a camisa do Shandong Luneng, Tardelli voltará a disputar o Brasileirão, competição pela qual já foi artilheiro em 2009, quando marcou 19 gols com a camisa do Atlético-MG, e que ostenta ainda o fato de ser o nono maior goleador dentre os jogadores que estão em atividade na Série A, com 65 bolas na rede. O cruzeirense Fred, com 142, lidera o ranking.

– O Campeonato Brasileiro é uma das competições nacionais mais equilibradas do futebol mundial e será muito bom poder voltar a disputá-lo. Já tive a honra de ser artilheiro pelo Atlético-MG, campeão com o São Paulo e agora espero conseguir ajudar o Grêmio a buscar novamente esse título – ressaltou.

Essa será a 11ª vez que Diego Tardelli disputará o Brasileirão na sua carreira. Pelo São Paulo, clube em que foi revelado, foram quatro edições, incluindo o título em 2007, e 18 gols marcados. Um ano antes, o atacante disputou sete partidas da competição pelo São Caetano e anotou uma vez.

A semana da inauguração foi repleta de homenagens. No dia principal, o Papa Pio XI esteve no Rio de Janeiro para participar, ao lado de D. Sebastão Leme, arcebispo do Rio de Janeiro, e alguns bispos, da primeira missa do Cristo Redentor. O palco? O gramado do estádio das Laranjeiras, já que não havia espaço suficiente no Corcovado para receber tantas pessoas e realizar a missa de inauguração.

As ruas de Laranjeiras pararam para receber a primeira missa campal da história do Cristo Redentor. No gramado e nos entornos do estádio, havia uma multidão para receber de braços abertos o monumento. O papa, os bispos e todos que estavam no cerimonial estiveram no estádio do Fluminense.

O gramado das Laranjeiras foi escolhido para ser o palco da primeira missa porque acreditava-se que a sede histórica do Fluminense ficava de frente para o Cristo Redentor. Um dos cartões postais mais conhecidos do Rio de Janeiro possui, portanto, sua história diretamente relacionada ao Tricolor.

يذكر، أن الإسماعيلي أنهى الموسم الماضي في الدوري المصري، بالتواجد في المركز الحادي عشر بترتيب جدول المسابقة برصيد 40 نقطة.
