Kings XI Punjab will be replacing England allrounder Stuart Broad and Dimitri Mascarenhas in their squad for the 2011 IPL, as both players are unavailable for the tournament due to injuries, a franchise official has said. Broad picked up a side strain during the World Cup, while Mascarenhas has not yet recovered from surgery to fix his achilles injury.”We are still in the process of identifying their replacements,” Aravinder Singh, the chief operating officer for Punjab, told ESPNcricinfo. “I am in touch with the coach and the captain.”Under IPL rules, the replacements have to be chosen from the pool of players who went unsold in the January auction, and cannot be paid more than the players they are replacing, though they can be paid less, depending on their base price in the auction. This limits the choice of players to those whose base price is equivalent to, or less than, the players being replaced. Broad was bought for $400,000 while Mascarenhas was bought for $100,000. Both replacements will be for the 2011 season only.Punjab opens the tournament on April 10 against Sahara Pune Warriors at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. The team began its preparations for the tournament on Monday with a six-day fitness camp at the HPCA Stadium, with the final camp for the full team to be held at Mohali from April 2 to April 8.Mumbai Indians have also signed a replacement player, according to a BCCI statement listing the players in each team, with Sri Lanka fast bowler Dilhara Fernando coming in for Australia fast bowler Clint Mckay, who was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left foot in January. Pune are the only team to sign the full complement of 30 players, while the Kolkata Knight Riders have the fewest players on their roster with 20. The defending champions Chennai Super Kings have 23 players.The Deccan Chargers, who have 27 players in their squad, still have US $1.49 million out of their allotted $9 million, the most of any franchise, while Punjab has approximately $1.46 million left over. Rajasthan Royals, whose salary cap was reduced by a court order, have spent all of their money. The Mumbai Indians, one of two teams to retain the maximum four players, have $1739 remaining. ورد مارشينياك على انتقادات احتساب هدف الأرجنتين: “لا أفكر في مثل هذه الأشياء، الكل يتحدث عن اللعبة الجميلة، بالتأكيد لم يكن من المفترض تواجد لاعبين من الخارج داخل أرضية الملعب، لكن الهدف سجل تمامًا وانتهى الأمر ثم دخل اللاعبون”.

England allrounder Paul Collingwood has undergone successful routine arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to remove ‘loose bodies’ and correct cartilage damage. Collingwood will begin his recovery and rehabilitation period with Durham and is expected to be available for them ahead of the Twenty20 and one-day international series against Sri Lanka in June.Collingwood, 34, had been struggling with a knee injury since England’s one-day series in Australia prior to the World Cup, and is missing the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League due to his injury.He retired from Test cricket after the Ashes in January and repeatedly said he wanted to prolong his one-day and Twenty20 career despite a prolonged slump in form.He was dropped for two of England’s six group matches at the World Cup and didn’t play in the crunch game against West Indies or the quarter-final defeat to Sri Lanka, but remains the Twenty20 captain.He had been due to take up a deal with Rajasthan Royals after the World Cup, but has since been replaced in their squad by New Zealand allrounder Jacob Oram.

وفي تصريحات للموقع الرسمي للاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم “فيفا” قال إيجالو: “نمتلك فريقاً طموحاً للغاية، الخسارة ليست في قاموسنا، ومنذ أن انضممتُ للفريق، حققنا فوزًا في كل بطولة خضناها، سواء في الدوري المحلي أو دوري الأبطال أو كأس الملك أو كأس العالم للأندية”.

وأكمل اللاعب النيجيري: “بالنسبة لنا كل مباراة هي نهائي، عندما نرتدي قميص الهلال، دائمًا ما نفوز. نتطلع لرفع كل كأس، وينطبق الأمر نفسه على كأس العالم للأندية”.

وعن مواجهة أندية بحجم ريال مدريد وفلامنجو قال إيجالو: “في كرة القدم كل شىء يمكن حدوثه، لم يعد بإمكان المرء أن يتوقع ما الذي سيحصل، فإذا بذلت جهدًا داخل الملعب، حينها يمكنك أن تحقق النتيجة المطلوبة”.

The size of the task confronting Australia and its new captain Michael Clarke is placed into context by the fact that this is the first time since 1969-70 that the national side has been asked to make back-to-back overseas Test tours without a significant break or home summer in between.To alleviate the difficulties, Chappell expected a substantial variation in the squads picked for the two series, to help Clarke best adapt his resources to contrasting conditions. As in 1969-70, when the team led by Bill Lawry travelled through India and enjoyed a series victory before venturing to South Africa and being crushed 4-0 in as many Tests, the Australians must make the sharp adjustments from slow subcontinental pitches to fast African tracks. That tour sowed the seeds for Lawry’s eventual sacking as captain, a fate Clarke will be keen to avoid.”If you want to look at it in that light it is [daunting], yes, but if you want to look at it as an opportunity for us to get better, I think it’s a great opportunity,” Chappell told . “There’ll be different challenges on each tour; much like 1969-70 there will be very different conditions on the two parts of the tour so it will be a challenge.”The success of the last Australian tour to South Africa in 2009 may result in a recall for a role-player like the Victorian allrounder Andrew McDonald, who bowled thriftily in partnership with the pace attack during those matches, while in Sri Lanka the spin of Michael Beer, Steve Smith and perhaps Jason Krejza will be employed.”The good news for this generation is they won’t have to go back-to-back from one set of conditions to the other; the Champions League will intervene, so the opportunity will be there to pick specialist groups for the two tours,” said Chappell. “Sri Lanka’s likely to suit spin bowling, South Africa’s likely to suit fast bowling, so the balance of the two groups is likely to be different. It’s an opportunity for experienced players and for budding players to gain some great experience and some great learning about what international cricket is about.”Chappell admitted there were few great players immediately available to the Australian team, and suggested the national selectors would have to make the best of it until a new generation, spearheaded by the likes of the teenaged fast bowler Pat Cummins, was ready for national duty.”If you can find some outstanding matchwinning players, that’s great, but if you haven’t got them available you do the best you can with the combinations you can put together and that’s the challenge for us over the next few years,” said Chappell. “We can see we’ve got some potential champions on the horizon, but it’s going to take time for them to get to the point where they’re going to be ready to play for Australia, so in the meantime you’re looking for the best combinations you can get.”Casting his eye across to India and the coaching role he once held, Chappell said Gary Kirsten’s replacement, the former England coach Duncan Fletcher, was as prepared as anyone could be for the role.”I think it’s an interesting appointment; he’s a very experienced coach, I think he’ll bring a lot to the job,” said Chappell. “Coaching at that level is a challenge in any environment, we know how fanatical India is about the game of cricket with the population and the media population, that brings with it different challenges. Duncan’s been a proven coach and has experienced India from the other side, so if anyone can be ready for it he’ll be as ready as anyone.”

After the league leaders slumped to 70 for 5, Wakely made 98 off 165 balls as his side were bowled out for 312 – one run short of their opponents’ first innings total.Wayne White and Australia international Andrew McDonald took three wickets each before Leicestershire closed on 52 for 0 with the match very much in the balance.Northants began the day 281 runs behind their opponents, with their openers, Stephen Peters and Ben Howgego, resuming on 26 and 6 respectively. But Peters was to last just two balls before he was well caught at third slip by Matthew Boyce off the bowling of Leicestershire captain Matthew Hoggard.And Howgego was removed on 10 when he edged White (3 for 92) to wicketkeeper Paul Dixey and Rob White soon followed when he nudged Nadeem Malik to the same player. McDonald (3 for 51) then took the wicket of David Sales (15) with his first over of the day when he was slashed to Will Jefferson at second slip.Northants captain Andrew Hall made just five before going cheaply by nudging McDonald’s wide delivery to Dixey to leave the hosts reeling. Vaas was to depart on 46 in the next over when he launched White to Hoggard at midwicket before Malik ended the innings by taking out David Lucas’ (24) off stump.Leicestershire managed to get off to a better start in their second innings than they did with their first, where they were reduced to 15 for 3. Their openers, Jefferson and Boyce, comfortably survived 18 overs and will resume on 15 and 36 respectively.
