تحدث تشافي هيرنانديز، المدير الفني لفريق برشلونة الإسباني عن إمكانية التعاقد مع إدينسون كافاني مهاجم مانشستر يونايتد الإنجليزي.

ويسعى برشلونة لتعزيز هجوم الفريق في سوق الانتقالات الشتوي بيناير المقبل، مع غياب سيرجيو أجويرو الذي يعاني من عدم انتظام في ضربات القلب، بالإضافة لإصابة مارتن برايثوايت.

ونشرت صحيفة “ماركا” الإسبانية تصريحات تشافي، وقال: “كافاني يبدو أنه لاعب كرة قدم جيد بالنسبة لي، لكني أفضل التحدث عن أولئك الموجودين هنا لدينا لتقديم أفضل أداء”.

وأضاف: “أفضل التفكير في ما لدينا في كل مركز وأنه يتكيف مع ما نحتاج إليه ولكني لن أتحدث عن الأسماء”.

وأكمل: “يجب أن نكون حذرين بشأن حد الراتب ولكن الوقت مبكر، نحن نعمل مع النادي لتحقيق بعض التأسيس، إنها حقيقة”.

وعن الهجوم، أفاد تشافي: “من الواضح بيدري وأنسو فاتي ومارتن برايثوايت وكون أجويرو نفسه، لقد لعبوا عدة دقائق في هذه المباريات ولكن لدينا ما لدينا”.

وأتم: “لكن هذا ليس عذرًا، علينا التنافس مع ما لدينا وغدًا نلعب ضد منافس عظيم مع لاعبي كرة قدم جيدين”.

The Welshman currently plays in the Championship with AFC Bournemouth. He has had a decent campaign so far, scoring three goals and picking up five assists in 17 games (WhoScored). He has shown consistent attacking intent, averaging 1.6 shots and 1.4 key passes a game.

Brooks, who is currently valued at Transfermarkt). However, a bad injury he suffered meant he only played nine times last season, scoring one goal.

He definitely showed glimpses that he can succeed in the Premier League, and he thoroughly impressed his old manager Eddie Howe in the early stages of his career at Bournemouth. Brooks has shown that he is indeed a ‘creative’ player with nearly an assist every three matches, and he would have added some good depth for Villa as they look for a top half finish or better this season, especially considering Ross Barkley’s injury woes in that attacking midfield spot. Therefore it is a big blow to see that he looks to be staying at Bournemouth.

Leeds United have had issues at the back, with many of their centre-backs struggling with injuries during this season. Rob Lee believes that Ben White would have been the ideal signing for the club had they been able to get a deal done for him in the summer.

What Lee had to say about Ben White

Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, Lee mentioned White as Leeds continue to struggle with injuries at the back. He said:

“He (White) would have been a very very good signing. Brighton knew that – that’s why they kept him. No disrespect to Brighton, but I think he’s proven now he can play at a top club. He’s playing in midfield, he’s playing centre-half, he’s playing left-back. I think that’s why Leeds wanted him and I think they need a centre-half.”

Ben White could have solved a lot of problems at Leeds

Leeds know the Englishman well as he was a great asset and was key to helping the club get promoted last season during his loan spell at Elland Road. Plenty of members of the Leeds fan base fell in love with the player and some are still desperate for him to sign permanently.

Centre-back Robin Koch is currently recovering from a long term injury, whilst Diego Llorente struggles with injuries too. Liam Cooper has also had his fitness problems this season. Therefore, having someone like White, who could have either started at the back or come in to cover for these injuries, would have been useful for Marcelo Bielsa to have.

White has played 19 Premier League games for Brighton this season, managing on average 1.7 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 1.2 clearances (WhoScored). To be so strong at breaking up opposition attacks at such a young age (23) in the Premier League shows that the Brighton man has the potential to succeed a the top level.

This ability, combined with his versatility, emphasises why Lee makes a great point when he says the player would have been a very good signing for Leeds.

Mike Ashley may well be rueing the disastrous outcome of Steve Bruce’s blunderous decision to start Emil Krafth against Arsenal, with the Newcastle United defender now said to be stalling on a January transfer to Istanbul Basaksehir.

What’s the word?

According to the Daily Mail, Krafth is now hesitant to the leave Tyneside during the mid-season window as his rare appearance at the Emirates has given him second thoughts.

The 26-year-old had looked likely to have played his final game for the Magpies with a £2.7m move to Super Lig side Istanbul Basaksehir expected to be completed in the coming days.

Krafth had not started a league game since December 12, having returned to the back-up role he occupied throughout much of his maiden season in England last term, with DeAndre Yedlin emerging as Bruce’s favoured option over the festive schedule.

Yet a full 90 minute run out in north London has given Krafth a belief that he can still force his way back into a regular starting role, despite the £5m signing from Amiens SC only featuring in the top-flight on four prior occasions this term.

Krafth is now evaluating his options and will be hoping he gets the nod for Saturday night’s trip to Aston Villa, where Bruce will be striving to end Newcastle’s nine-game winless streak across all competitions.

A huge mistake by Bruce

Ashley will likely have already been frustrated at having to accept an offer worth close to half what Newcastle paid to sign Krafth just 18-months ago, having seen the defender prove time and time again that he is not up to the standard needed in the Premier League.

Yet Bruce’s decision to rest Yedlin at Arsenal and look favourably on Krafth has given the defender confidence that he can still have a future at the club where he earns £57,500-per-week as the fourth-best paid player.

Krafth is bleeding Ashley dry on those terms, that have so far returned just one assist and seen Newcastle record six clean sheets in 29 games across all competitions to date. He was even omitted from the matchday squad at Sheffield United last week entirely, marking the ninth time that Bruce has overlooked his services outside of injuries.

Not many Toon players left north London with much to write home about as Newcastle were comfortably beaten 3-0, and Krafth was certainly one who failed to cover himself in any glory as he frequently held back as the last man whenever Arsenal countered.

And yet Krafth only attempted a single tackle and made one clearance at the Emirates, while playing only one additional accurate pass (20) compared to goalkeeper Karl Darlow (19), per WhoScored.

His efforts ensured Krafth continues to rank joint-last for successful tackles (1.3) per game when fielded at right-back by Bruce in the Premier League this season, and with fewer attempts (1.8) than natural midfielder Jacob Murphy (2.3).

Bruce would have been wise to leave Krafth at home, rather than take him to Arsenal, and show the Sweden international that his future should be in Turkey and not Tyneside.

What’s the word?

The Italian journalist appeared on a recent ‘transfer special’ with popular Spurs YouTuber Chris Cowlin where he revealed that Spurs were among several Premier League teams that have scouted the 26-cap Serbian colossus.

After naming Eder Militao and Milan Skriniar as potential options, Romano said:

“Another interesting name is Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina because he’s out of contract in a year-and-a-half. He’s been scouted by a lot of English clubs and Tottenham are among those clubs sending scouts to look at this guy.

“In my opinion, he is so, so talented. [A] serious guy, a good player. Sometimes he’s also scoring goals, so he’s a good centre-back. For sure, I think that they will go for a centre-back, but we will have to see also about the budget that they could spend on this kind of player.

“For Milenkovic, it’ll be around €35m (£30m) to €40m (£36m).”

Levy must strike

Over the last few weeks, it has become increasingly clear that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho doesn’t fancy many of his current central defensive options.

The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick revealed that the 58-year-old blamed Fulham’s late equaliser on the “individual quality” of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez earlier this month – perhaps with a hint of sarcasm – whilst it’s suggested that he’s yet to completely trust the inexperienced Joe Rodon.

‘Mourinho wants his own transformative signing, a defender who could have the same impact on Spurs as Van Dijk at Liverpool or Ruben Dias at Man City,’ wrote Kilpatrick.

Indeed, Toby Alderweireld had been snubbed for three straight league outings until last night, in which Dier was the player axed from the starting XI.

The addition of Milenkovic before the deadline tonight could give him a quickfire solution – why wait until the summer? Spurs remain in all domestic and European competitions, and they have a Carabao Cup final on the horizon.

As Romano says, the 23-year-old is an impressive talent.

He has been likened to former Premier League great Nemanja Vidic due to his aggression and “fearless” nature.

“Milenkovic has [the] physical characteristics of a beast. He reads the game well, plays the ball, and should have a great career ahead of him,” added his former mentor at Partizan, Ivan Tomic.

The 6 foot 5 titan currently ranks as La Viola’s highest-rated player (6.91), per WhoScored ratings and it’s easy to see why – on average, he is successful in 81% of his tackling attempts and a very imposing figure at the back, also managing 3.3 clearances and 3.6 aerial duels won per 90 minutes.

By comparison, only Rodon is more successful in the tackles with Dier managing a measly 0.8 attempts per 90 and similarly, no Spurs centre-back has won as many aerial duels as the towering Milenkovic, as per WhoScored.

Evidently, he’d be a valuable upgrade at the back and given the coveted interest in his services, chairman Daniel Levy ought to strike now rather than waiting for a transfer tussle in the summer when his value would undoubtedly increase from a current €30m (£26.5m) as per CIES Football Observatory.

It’s time for the club to show they are serious about their trophy ambitions with a £30m swoop for Milenkovic.
