Pablo Fornals has found it difficult to make his mark for West Ham United this season.

The 31-year-old is in for a busy afternoon as well as Fletcher gets of 2.5 shots per 90 on average, but those can be counteracted as Berardi manages to block 0.7 shots per game.

Fortunately for Berardi, Fletcher isn’t great at drawing fouls as he is only impeded 1.2 times per game on average, which bodes well for a man who has been sent off eight times for the Whites.

The Athletic’s Everton reporter Patrick Boyland has described how hurt Richarlison was following the dramatic 3-2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend.

What did he say?

Everton failed to build on their impressive result against West Ham United and fell to yet another loss in the Premier League at the weekend. The Blues went behind early on, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s third league goal of the season put Marco Silva’s side 2-1 up before the disaster unfolded.

A controversial VAR decision on Michael Keane and an unfortunate own goal from Lucas Digne in the 94th minute dropped all points for the Toffees for the sixth time this season.

One man who seemed to be visibly seething by the result was Richarlison.

Describing the post-match scenes, Boyland wrote for The Athletic: “Richarlison strode towards the team bus with a face like thunder, visibly frustrated by what he had just witnessed.”

The Toffees having no luck

This time around for Everton it’s not just about the fact they dropped all three points, it’s the manner in which they lost them. The VAR call on Keane was harsh to say the least, as he looked to accidentally step on Aaron Connolly’s foot.

Plus, the own goal from Digne in the dying seconds was desperately unlucky, as he attempted to clear the ball away. Then you consider the fact Bernard could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines because of the injury he sustained in the game, and it really is a bleak outlook for the Toffees.

Richarlison was, as Boyland mentioned, furious at the decisions late on. The Brazilian even had his goal taken off him when his header came off Adam Webster for the equaliser.

The frustration could be mounting up on the 5ft 10 attacker, who looked like he may just be returning to form as of late. His two goals in the season so far have been far from what he can do for the Toffees, and Silva needs to hope he can return to top form very soon.

That he was so visibly angered by the result at least offers the Everton supporters an insight into how much the result hurt him, and that should at least serve as a positive indicator about his mentality.

Once again, Everton are two points away from the drop zone and, with pressure beginning to rise, one gets the feeling that Silva simply cannot afford many more defeats.

Oliver Skipp’s time at Tottenham Hotspur has surely come.

The 19-year-old has long appeared on the verge of a breakthrough at Spurs and has actually made 15 senior appearances for the club.

However, this season he has struggled for game time, playing just two minutes in the opening two games of the campaign and he has not been seen since in the Premier League.

While he has been on the bench a further four times, he was not even included in the squad for the games against Watford and Liverpool.

It has been a similar story in the Champions League, as he is yet to make the bench, though he did play 78 minutes in the embarrassing Carabao Cup penalty defeat to Colchester United.

One feels, though, that now would be a good time to inject some youthful enthusiasm into the starting line-up.

Spurs have won just three games all season in the top-flight and are continuing to play the likes of Christian Eriksen and Danny Rose, who were closing in on exits from the club in the summer transfer window.

Bringing through the youth at this stage, then, makes all the sense in the world, as it would fire something of a rocket through the first-team squad, and Skipp would be well-placed to take advantage of the opportunity.

He has already started for the club on two occasions in the Premier League and is perhaps further along in his development than both Troy Parrott and Japhet Tanganga, who have made just two league appearances between them.

Even utilising him off the bench so that the likes of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko can stay fresh would go a long way to furthering his development.

Otherwise, one has to feel that Skipp is never going to be able to play his way into the manager’s plans, if he can’t do so while more senior players are struggling for form.

At the same tie, if he is not given a chance to grab the brass ring, how will he become a first-team player in north London?

Now is the time for him to be promoted permanently and really brought into first-team affairs.

وأضاف: “فوزنا بالكأس والأداء الذي قدمناه كان جيدًا للغاية، ليس مجرد لقب، قمنا بتحسين الكثير من الأشياء بالفريق وأعتقد أن الناس سعداء رغم الوقت الذي استغرقناه حتى وصلنا للمستوى الحالي”.

وعن إمكانية استرخاء اللاعبين بعد الفوز ببطولة الكأس، قال: “لا أعتقد ذلك لأنهم لاعبون محترفون، إذا كنت لاعبًا في برشلونة فأنت تريد دائمًا المزيد، قد يكون هناك بعض الهدوء ولكن ليس لدرجة الاسترخاء لأننا نعلم جيدًا أهمية المباريات المقبلة”.

وعن وضع 3 حراس في قائمة النهائي أمام أتلتيك بلباو، قال: “قرار لم أحبه ولكني كنت مضطرًا حتى لا يصاب أحد منهم أو يطرد الثاني ولم يكن علي المخاطرة بوضع لاعب في حراسة المرمى لذلك اخترت أن يكون هناك 3 حراس معنا في تلك المباراة”.

وعن صفقة ديباي: “لا أتحدث عن اللاعبين الذين نريد التعاقد معهم أو الذين لن يستمروا معنا في الموسم المقبل، هذا ليس الوقت المناسب”.

وعن الضغط الذي يشعر به من أجل الفوز بالدوري الإسباني، رد الهولندي: “سيظل موجودًا لأنني في برشلونة، عليك أن تفوز وتقاتل من أجل الفوز بالألقاب، كنا على مسافة كبيرة من أتلتيكو مدريد والآن حان الوقت لإظهار قدرتنا على التتويج”.

Manchester City’s Rodri has returned to training ahead of the crucial fixture against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. Pep Guardiola will be hoping for a fully fit team, as a defeat to the Reds would put Jurgen Klopp’s men nine clear at the top of the table.

What’s the story?

Rodri has been out injured since he picked up a hamstring problem in the game against Atalanta a few weeks ago. The Spaniard has consequently missed the last three wins, which has forced in Fernandinho at the back and Ilkay Gundogan into midfield.

However, as reported by Tyrone Marshall of the Manchester Evening News, Rodri could be on the comeback trail. Marshall snapped a shot of the 23-year-old training, although he also reported that the midfielder did not complete the full session.

Too early for a comeback

The fact Rodri only kicked a ball around and stretched at the recent session shows that he is not 100% fit. If he was ready to go, the coaching staff surely would have him back in full training and amongst the other players.

Clearly, the former Atletico Madrid man is not ready, and with Anfield up next, it’s just too soon for him to return. If the game wasn’t of such great importance, perhaps Rodri could come back, but the form of Gundogan must keep him sidelined.

The German has taken his place recently and registered a goal and an 8.2 rating against Aston Villa. This game came immediately after Rodri’s injury and goes to show that Gundogan can do the job for City right now just as well.

The form of the 29-year-old and his proven ability for City in the past few years must keep him in the holding role in Guardiola’s starting XI for now.
