Man Utd: Ten Hag Could Sign "Complete" £108m-rated Hojlund Partner

Manchester United could pull off one of the deals of the century, should they tempt a sought-after star to Old Trafford.

Is Kylian Mbappe leaving Paris Saint-Germain?

With the future of Kylian Mbappe firmly up in the air, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Paris Saint-Germain's wantaway superstar.

As the Frenchman is now firmly up for sale, drawing the intrigue of Saudi Arabia among other suitors, there are few that can compete with the financial might that such an evolving league can offer. However, it remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old ace will choose legacy over a financial boost that could set up his family for countless generations.

Read the latest Man United transfer news HERE…

One of the few clubs who could offer the forward a mix of the two is the Red Devils, who were implicated in the saga earlier this month. He has just one year left on his current deal, with Football Transfers valuing the World Cup winner at €126.4m (£108m).

How good is Kylian Mbappe?

It feels disingenuous to outline what Mbappe offers with statistics alone, but they help to showcase how he is comfortably one of the best players in the world.

Just last season saw him notch 51 goal contributions across all competitions, unsurprisingly failing to match his incredible tally of 65 from the year prior.

There are but a handful of players capable of shining so brightly, and given he is still so young, the world truly is at his feet as he seeks a move to greener pastures. He would likely encourage a speedy end to his tumultuous but ultimately successful tenure at the Parc des Princes, where he has scored 212 times in just 260 games.

However, his creativity is an often-forgotten asset that sets him apart from the rest. It is that ability to forge chances out of nothing for his teammates that suggest he could be a star in Manchester, providing for their newest signing, Rasmus Hojlund.

With transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirming that the deal has been agreed, the Danish marksman will offer pace, power, and a much-needed focal point with which Erik ten Hag can build his side around.

Not to mention that last season he found the net 16 times across all competitions whilst assisting a further seven, suggesting that the 20-year-old certainly knows where the back of the net is.

rasmus-hojlund-atalanta

He would benefit greatly from the quality Mbappe would bring, who registered 1.6 key passes per game in Ligue 1 last year, and created 17 big chances despite registering just five assists, via Sofascore.

In fact, when compared against other forwards across Europe, he sits in the top 1% for progressive carries per 90, the top 5% for progressive passes per 90, and the top 4% for shot-creating actions per 90, via FBref. His offensive figures boast a sea of green, where he is one of if not the best in every offensive category across the continent.

Journalist Musa Okwonga had already earmarked the youngster for success back in 2017, noting:

"Mbappé is the best player I have seen at that age since Ronaldo. There is no other footballer of this era who has been so complete so young."

This is potential certainly fulfilled, and if partnered with the 6 foot 3 gem, could even reach new heights.

Ten Hag's new striker could bully defenders into submission, and in turn, even end up creating for Mbappe. The combination of a big man and a silky dribbler, both with a frightening turn of pace, marks a daunting prospect for the rest of the division.

The threat the latter poses will likely draw two or even three defenders to silence him, which is when the rest of his teammates could truly do the damage. Hojlund in particular will benefit, as his big-money move to Old Trafford could be eased by a higher-profile arrival that will feed him countless opportunities to mark his debut year with plenty of goals.

Saurashtra announce Uthappa signing for 2017-18 season

The move ends the senior batsman’s 15-year-long association with the Karnataka team

The Saurashtra Cricket Association [SCA] has announced signing Robin Uthappa as the team’s professional player for the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy season, although the senior batsman is yet to confirm the development. ESPNcricinfo understands Uthappa, 31, does not wish to preempt the announcement before the paperwork has been processed and sent by the BCCI to the SCA, after an earlier deal with Kerala, which he had been on the verge of signing, did not go through. The SCA, though, has issued a statement welcoming Uthappa. “SCA feels confident that Robin will add strength to [the] strong Ranji Team of Saurashtra with his vast experience and commendable performance,” the association’s media manager, Himanshu Shah, said in a press release. “Robin Uthappa has completed all necessary formalities to BCCI, Saurashtra Cricket Association and Karnataka State Cricket Association.”In any event, the move has brought the curtain down on Uthappa’s 15-year association with Karnataka. He led Karnataka to the final of the 2009-10 Ranji Trophy, where Mumbai snatched a six-run win. Uthappa was also part of the Karnataka side that did the double-treble, winning the Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup and the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2013-14 and 2014-15. Last season, however, he had a middling run, tallying 328 runs from seven Ranji Trophy games, with only one fifty-plus score. Uthappa was subsequently left out of Karnataka’s quarter-final clash against Tamil Nadu, which the latter won.Karnataka State Cricket Association secretary Sudhakar Rao said the association had tried to persuade Uthappa to stay on. “We had two meetings, but he stuck to his words. He said he wanted a change. We can’t stop him,” he told ESPNcricinfo. “He is a senior player and he wants to go. So, we issued an NoC (No Objection Certificate) and wished him all the best for his comeback to the national side.”Uthappa has scored 8793 runs from 130 first-class matches at an average of 41.28, including 21 hundreds. He has turned out for India in 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is.

West Indies pick Nurse for England T20

Offspinner Ashley Nurse has made a comeback into the West Indies T20 squad after more than two years

After more than two years out of the side, offspinner Ashley Nurse has made a comeback into the West Indies T20 squad. The 28-year old last played a T20 international in January 2015, but has been picked for the one-off game against England later this month, in place of legspinner Samuel Badree, who was unavailable due to a prior commitment. West Indies retained the other 12 players that featured in the squad for the home T20I against India in July.West Indies T20 squad changes

IN: Ashley Nurse
OUT: Samuel Badree
Squad: Carlos Brathwaite (captain), Ronsford Beaton, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Sunil Narine, Ashley Nurse, Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Marlon Samuels, Jerome Taylor, Chadwick Walton (wk), Kesrick Williams

Nurse has so far gone wicketless in the four T20 internationals he has played since his debut in April 2011 but has been one of the main bowlers for Barbados in List A matches. He was the leading wicket-taker in their domestic 50-over competition last season. Recently, however, he hasn’t been as impressive, going wicketless for Trinbago Knight Riders in the two CPL matches he has played.”We have a good mix of experience and youth that should adapt to English conditions quickly,” chairman of selectors, Courtney Browne said. “Coming off the series win against India in the Caribbean in July our expectations is to see the team play a highly competitive game and bring that T20 Caribbean atmosphere to England.”The experience Browne talks about includes the likes of Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Marlon Samuels and Jerome Taylor. And leading the younger players is opening batsman Evin Lewis, who scored a 53-ball hundred against India less than two months ago.The only T20 between England and West Indies will take place on September 16 in Chester-le-Street, before a five-match ODI series starts on September 19 at Old Trafford.

Tottenham: Postecoglou Could Sign "Complete" £16m-rated Hazard Clone

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to secure a shock summer signing, bolstering their attacking ranks even further…

Who are Tottenham Hotspur signing this summer?

That's according to reports in Spain, who suggest that the Lilywhites are now interested in signing Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid.

The Belgian dynamo would join a host of new additions to supplement the start of Ange Postecoglou's reign, including Manor Solomon, James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario.

Read the latest Tottenham transfer news HERE…

With his future in the Spanish capital decidedly up in the air, the north London outfit could capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding this star wide man.

FootballTransfers value the Belgian flyer at €18.8m (£16m), as the 29-year-old has just one year left on his current deal.

How good is Yannick Carrasco?

The pacey left winger has silently been impressing in Spain ever since return in 2020, recapturing his form from his first stint which was interrupted by his two years in China.

Having racked up 263 appearances for the Madrid outfit, just last term saw him score ten and assist a further five across all competitions despite his side being nowhere near the LaLiga winners Barcelona.

Diego Simeone has even singled him out for praise too in the past, once claiming after he had notched a hat trick:

"He is a very complete player, with a bright future ahead of him."

Carrasco boasts speed, quick feet, a lethal finish and a scything right foot, so it is not farfetched to suggest that the Belgium international could seek to emulate one of his compatriots in Eden Hazard. By moving to the Premier League, all the pieces would be in place for him to achieve such a feat.

Should this transfer come to fruition and he were to be half as successful as the 32-year-old free agent was, it would certainly mark a deal worth making.

eden-hazard

After all, the former Chelsea man featured 352 times for the club before leaving for Real Madrid, lighting up England with his signature silkiness and dynamism.

He would score 110 times across this period and assist a further 92, with former Sky Sports pundit Phil Thompson even claiming in 2018:

"Hazard is the best player in the Premier League."

He would win two Premier League titles and two Europa Leagues as well as Footballer of the Year in 2015. Whilst Carrasco is yet to achieve heights similar to this, few on the planet can even admit to reaching such a level.

That is not to suggest they are not worthy of comparison though, especially when the former AS Monaco man is compared against other wingers across Europe, as he ranks in the top 1% for total shots, non-penalty expected goals, progressive carries and touches in the attacking penalty area per 90, as well as the top 2% for successful take-ons per 90, via FBref.

He can beat a man and forge chances for himself, just like Hazard did in his prime.

During his final 2018/19 season in the English top-flight, where his 16 goals and 15 assists helped earn him a deserved 7.84 average rating, his 17% shot conversion, 2.6 key passes per game and 67% dribble success rate underpinned his success, via Sofascore.

Meanwhile, Carrasco's exploits in 2021/22 marked clear similarities, naturally omitting the insane goalscoring and assisting figures. His 12 goal contributions in LaLiga gave way to his 12% shot conversion, 1.6 key passes per game and 65% dribble success rate, via Sofascore.

Few will ever reach the levels Hazard maintained in England, but Atletico's speedster certainly has all the attributes to try.

Clarke caps homecoming with career-best 7 for 55

Rikki Clarke bowled with masterful precision and subtlety from the Vauxhall End to claim career-best figures of 7 for 55

As The Oval clock ticked over to 5 o’clock, Rikki Clarke raised the ball aloft and led Surrey off, saluting the home crowd as they lauded his career-best figures. It was a moment that both the player and spectators had long thought would never come. Many members at this hallowed ground have memories of Clarke emerging from Surrey’s academy, spotty but brimming with an effervescent talent. His third County Championship match, 15 years ago, brought a sublime 153 not out against Somerset at Taunton. Add in the nonchalant catches in the slips and the pace and bounce he generated from his 6ft 4in frame, and Clarke was immediately marked out as a player of supreme promise. It took only 10 first-class matches for England to be persuaded to select him in an international squad.Over the following years, the alluring prospect of Clarke providing England with runs, wickets and catches – as he did in two accomplished Tests in Bangladesh in 2003 – gave way to frustration at why such a talent was stagnating. And so Clarke left his home county in 2007, taking up the Derbyshire captaincy in an attempt to reinvigorate his career. The move failed, spectacularly. By the summer’s end Clarke had given up the job and then quit the county for good. But then came a move to Warwickshire, where Clarke became a cricketer of the calibre and consistency that those who had watched the promise of those early performances for Surrey expected, even if an England recall never quite came. After a decade of trophies and fulfilment at Edgbaston, notwithstanding this summer’s struggles, Clarke returned home. First, he signed a two-year contract beginning next year. Then, after Dominic Sibley moved to Warwickshire, the two were involved in a mid-season loan swap, and Clarke was thrust back into Surrey’s team.He returned to find a completely new role. It was not merely that Clarke had aged. Where once he was a wayward cricketer, now he was recruited to bring solidity. And while he had spent his first Surrey career in the top six, Clarke has returned to a spot of No.8, and even nine, which rather seems to belittle his 16 first-class centuries. But while Clarke was away, he developed into a highly skilled bowler, adept at cutting the ball from an awkward height. Where he had once sprayed the ball in pursuit of wickets, he returned with the patience to locate a probing line and length remorselessly.Over 16 fulfilling seasons in professional cricket, never have those qualities been as persuasive as today. On a pitch on which Somerset had lost only one wicket in the morning session, and even that on the brink of lunch, Clarke jagged the ball spitefully both ways at an awkward length. The Oval is not the sort of ground on which many bowlers produce a spell of 5 for 32 in ten overs, never mind doing so immediately after lunch on the first day. But Clarke bowled with masterful precision and subtlety from the Vauxhall End, eliciting edges from George Bartlett and Edward Byrom with away movement in between locating in-swing to trap James Hildreth lbw, uprooting Tom Abell’s off stump and then, most emphatically of all, finding a full length to Peter Trego. A rash drive ensued; it missed the ball, which instead dismantled the off and middle stumps. Remarkably, it was Clarke’s first Surrey five-fer.Nor was he done yet. If a ten-over spell had revealed admirable durability in a man who turns 36 by the end of the month, the impression was confirmed when, after tea, he plucked out Dom Bess’s drive in his followthrough and then produced a menacing spell of bouncers to Steven Davies as early evening shadows extended onto the outfield, which eventually culminated in Davies picking out fine leg. In decimating Somerset’s top order, Clarke had topped 400 first-class wickets, and 100 for Surrey, and encapsulated why he has been among the most valuable players in the shires in the last decade. On this evidence, he could yet remain so for several years to come. Not that Clarke was the only player to enjoy being back at The Oval. Davies played sumptuously on his first-class return, after his winter move to Taunton, marrying the finesse and fluency of his dreamy late cuts and drives with fortitude to withstand Clarke, and stabilise Somerset from the debris of 138 for 6. If their eventual 269 remains far below the recent norm at The Oval, the pitch offered Somerset’s seamers abundant movement during their 14 overs at Surrey. Somerset may yet have a working total. The morning had brought no indication of what Clarke would unleash. Instead, Marcus Trescothick unfurled all his trademarks – the crunching drives, the cuts scythed between point and deep extra cover, and the nonchalant pulls – reserving particular wrath for Sam Curran. The unusually warm applause that greeted an opponents’ half-century reflected the stead in which Trescothick is held in the shires and gratitude that, 14 years after pillaging 219 against South Africa on this ground, he has signed up to another year in county cricket.

Tottenham: Romano Names Two More Exit-Bound Spurs Stars

Fabrizio Romano has shared news on who else could Tottenham Hotspur very soon with an update on Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga's situations.

Who is leaving Spurs?

So far, the only confirmed departures come in the form of midfielder Harry Winks, who joined Leicester City earlier this window, and winger Lucas Moura after his Spurs contract expired in June.

Promising young forward Romain Mundle also put pen to paper on a Bosman deal with Belgian side Standard Liege, but the big name who's been central to exit claims is star striker Harry Kane.

After weeks of pushing, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich finally agreed a deal worth over £86 million to sign the England superstar, coming as pretty big news in the last 24 hours.

Another player to have been linked with a departure are midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, as he continues to attract interest from Atletico Madrid. Indeed, he joins the likes of Hugo Lloris, Ivan Perisic, Sanchez, Ryan Sessegnon, Tanguy Ndombele and Tanganga who may leave.

Ange Postecoglou, speaking to the press recently, admitted that his bloated squad needs trimming.

Read the latest Tottenham transfer news HERE…

“It's fair to say our squad is too big at the moment," explained the Spurs head coach.

"There are guys who will want to explore opportunities elsewhere. I'm not involved in that. I think we'll see some movement out in the coming weeks.”

Sanchez, who was recently subject to an accepted bid from Spartak Moscow remains a sure-fire candidate for the chopping block given he hasn't quite lived up to expectations since his move from Ajax.

Tanganga, meanwhile, has displayed signs of promise but couldn't quite fight his way into former boss Antonio Conte's plans – with Serie A giants Inter Milan taking an interest.

Renowned transfer journalist Romano, writing an update, has named both Tanganga and Sanchez as the two players Spurs hope to find solutions for and soon.

He says the duo could depart "in the coming days/weeks" as Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy hopes to find buyers before September 1.

Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez.

Wales international Joe Rodon has joined Leeds from Spurs on a season-long loan, but Sanchez and Tanganga may well follow him shortly if a resolution can be found.

"Agreement completed between Tottenham and Leeds United for Joe Rodon," said Romano on X.

"The centre back joins #LUFC on loan until the end of the season. Spurs hope to find solution also for Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez in the next days/weeks."

How good is Japhet Tanganga?

japhet-tanganga-tottenham-hotspur-transfer-sale-awful

We believe Spurs should certainly cut their losses on Sanchez, with the player even being booed off the pitch for some displays by sections of the Tottenham fanbase.

However, Tanganga is a different case entirely. The Englishman has arguably been unlucky not to feature more regularly for Spurs, having showcased some standout skills in one-v-one situations against the likes of Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling.

Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor, speaking to Football Insider on the centre-back, has also claimed Tanganga can be "outstanding" when at his very best.

The fact he is homegrown is also a factor Tottenham must consider before selling the defender.
