Everton are interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton during the summer transfer window, according to a new report.

Could Heaton be available this summer?

The 37-year-old has enjoyed an impressive career, performing at the top level for many years and representing the likes of Cardiff City, Burnley and Aston Villa along the way.

Heaton started his career at United, however, and is now back there during the autumn of his career, having arrived as a backup option in 2021, and he has made three appearances for the Red Devils in his second spell at Old Trafford.

While the £41,923-a-week and three-cap England international did recently sign a new deal with United that will keep him at the club for one more year, that doesn't mean that there isn't still speculation surrounding his future.

With Everton looking to bolster their squad after another tricky and disappointing season in the Premier League, it looks as though Heaton could be an option.

Are Everton eyeing move for Heaton?

According to Football Insider, the Blues have "made contact" with United over a possible move for the goalkeeper this summer, having been the "subject of a few other enquiries" already, including from newly-promoted Luton Town.

That being said, the report goes on to add that the Reds are "not prepared to sanction" Heaton's exit, due to uncertainty over the future of current first-choice stopper David De Gea. It has left the veteran in "limbo" when it comes to his own career, amid interest from "several" clubs.

Heaton could be a shrewd signing by Everton in the summer transfer window, not coming in as No.1 – but acting as a solid squad option with a huge amount of experience who has made a whopping 200 appearances under Sean Dyche, who has hailed the player in the past on a number of occasions while at Burnley.

At 37, he may still have a few years left in him, considering many 'keepers can remain at the top level until they are around 40 years of age, and he is someone who could fill in and do a job when required, most likely in competitions such as the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Signing Heaton as a direct replacement for Jordan Pickford may not be good enough, given his advancing years, but having a homegrown deputy who knows the game inside and out could make sense, especially as he was once hailed as "unbelievable" by Alan Shearer during his Burnley days.

Are Everton signing Ashley Young?

Sean Dyche and the Toffees are making preparations ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season, with new additions on the cards.

One player who has now been linked with a move to the club is Young, after his contract expired at Aston Villa at the end of June. The 37-year-old has played against Everton on 19 occasions, winning seven, drawing seven and losing five, and he has scored twice at Goodison Park during his first stint with Aston Villa.

The former England international and Premier League winner knows what it’s like to play at Goodison Park then, and by the looks of things, he could be the club’s first signing of the summer.

Reliable reporter Myers took to Twitter on Saturday evening to share a transfer update out of Goodison Park. He stated that the Toffees are in talks with Young over a move to Merseyside, with no decision made, although Everton are favourites at this stage.

“Everton have held talks about the possibility of bringing former Aston Villa defender Ashley Young to the club, the 37 year old is available on a free transfer, nothing decided yet, talks are continuing.

“Young has turned down a number of other offers from PL and Championship clubs, Everton are favourites to sign the former Man Utd man.”

Young began his career with Watford and made an impact mainly as a winger, turning out on 110 occasions for the Hornets. He earned himself a move to Aston Villa and then Manchester United, where he would go on to make 21 appearances for the Red Devils.

After nine years at Old Trafford, Young then move to Italy with Inter Milan before returning to the Midlands with Aston Villa in 2021. In total, Young has made 677 appearances for the four clubs named, scoring 84 times and registering 121 assists.

At international level, Young earned 37 caps for England, and he has won the Premier League, Serie A, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup throughout his career.

Recently, during his second stint at Villa Park, Young was labelled as “absolutely outstanding” by Steven Gerrard, who hailed his versatility.

“I know Ashley extremely well and he’s been absolutely outstanding since we walked through the door. Not just on the training pitch but his leadership and standard-setting,”

“He was ready and the big thing about Ash is he can play right-back, left-back, he can play as an eight, a 10 or wide. That’s what good players allow you to do as a manager, allow you to play in different ways.”

Therefore, his experience and versatility could make him a smart addition on a free transfer, and by the looks of things, a move to Everton will be one to watch over the coming days.

Everton have made contact with the entourage of Charles De Ketelaere over a potential summer move, and AC Milan would be willing to sanction his departure for a fee of €30m (£26m), according to reports from Italy.

What's the latest Everton transfer news?

The Toffees have made it clear they are interested in signing a new striker this summer, having now "formally expressed" their interest in paying the €40m (£34m) release clause to sign Almeria's El Bilal Toure, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Despite creating 48 big chances last season, the tenth-highest figure in the Premier League, Sean Dyche's men ended the season with the second-fewest number of goals, so it is no wonder the manager is so keen to sign the Almeria forward.

With Amadou Onana's future in doubt, amid interest from West Ham United, Everton may look at bringing in De Ketelaere, given that he is capable of playing in midfield, and in a more advanced role.

The AC Milan midfielder only arrived at the San Siro last summer, in a deal worth a total of €35m (£30m), however his future is already in doubt.

That is according to a report from Pianeta Milan (via Sport Witness), which states that Milan would be willing to part ways with the 22-year-old for a fee of €30m (£26m), after a disappointing first season in Italy following his big move last August.

With the Serie A club now chasing Samuel Chukwueze and Christian Pulisic, the Belgian may be squeezed out of the squad, and there is a belief that he could potentially be moved on in a loan deal.

Everton have now contacted the Brugge-born midfielder's entourage to ask for information ahead of a possible move in the coming weeks, but they are not the only Premier League club interested in his signature, with West Ham and Crystal Palace also named as potential suitors.

Who is Charles De Ketelaere?

Just over a year ago, the Belgium U21s international was viewed as a "highly rated" player by members of the media, and while he has failed to hit the heights expected of him with AC Milan, recording just one assist last season, it is still very early days in his career.

Former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hailed the 6 foot 3 midfielder as a "top player" who just needs "some time", while international teammate Divock Origi describes him as "half Havertz and half Kaka".

If the former Club Brugge man is able to reignite his form from the 2021-22 campaign, during which he registered 14 goals and seven assists in 33 Belgian Pro League outings, he could prove to be an excellent signing for Everton.

However, De Ketelaere has now been out of form for quite some time, which is likely to be a major concern for Sean Dyche, so it would not be wise for Everton to shell out £26m.

Instead, the Toffees should try to negotiate a loan deal, as it seems like it would be a beneficial move for all parties.

Sharjeel Khan appeared before a three-man tribunal set up to hear the alleged corruption charges laid against him, on Friday. Khalid Latif, his team-mate for Pakistan and Islamabad United and similarly implicated, did not appear, however. He cited health reasons, forcing the postponement of his hearing by a week on the condition that no future adjournment would be granted.Sharjeel and his lawyer agreed to the timelines to be adopted under the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Code, with the formal hearing set for May 15 in Lahore. He was given a deadline of May 5 to respond to the alleged code-of-conduct breaches he and Latif were accused of during the PSL. The PCB said in a release that it “may, at its discretion, file a rebuttal by May 10”.The tribunal extended Latif’s date, asking him to appear on March 31 to chalk out a timeline for the formal hearing. “He made an application for adjournment via email to the Chairman of the Tribunal citing health reasons and requesting that proceedings be adjourned to next week,” a PCB statement said. “In the interest of justice the request is allowed and the proceedings in respect of Khalid are adjourned to 11:30am on 31st March 2017. Notice would also be issued with a stipulation that no further adjournment would be granted.”The tribunal, comprising Justice (retired) Asghar Haider (head of the tribunal), former PCB chairman Tauqir Zia and former wicketkeeper Wasim Bari, met at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. “The Tribunal in consultation with both parties agreed upon the procedure and timelines to be adopted under the Anti-Corruption Code,” the PCB said. “PCB shall submit its opening brief detailing its claims along with the evidence to be relied on by 14th April 2017.”It is understood that Nasir Jamshed, who was arrested in the UK in relation to the same case, was in touch with both Latif and Sharjeel during the PSL. Liverpool could be set to sanction the exit of Thiago Alcantara from Anfield this summer, reports suggesting that Galatasaray have held talks over a move for the player.

Is Thiago leaving Liverpool?

The 32-year-old has been with the Reds for three seasons now, but having begun life at the club as a fairly frequent option for them in the Premier League, his game time has since tailed off. His initial campaign at Anfield after joining from Bayren Munich led to 24 games in total, as he bagged one goal and the club finished third. However, in 2022/23, the Spaniard started only 14 games and had slightly less in terms of his amounts of 90 minutes.

With the midfielder no longer a frequent option for Liverpool, it means that he could be on the move this summer as the Reds look to sort out their squad. They've already added Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton who can feature in a number of midfield roles, and they added to that business by bringing in Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, who can also play there.

It doesn't appear as if their transfer business in that area is done yet either, with the Reds still being linked to other midfielders such as Romeo Lavia from Southampton. No deal has been agreed, but it looks as though the Reds remain keen to try and get a deal done for the Belgian. It means that Thiago could find himself even further down the pecking order – and that could lead to a transfer away from the English outfit this transfer window.

Are Galatasaray signing Thiago?

There is already interest in signing the 32-year-old – and talks have seemingly been held. That's because according to a report from Fanatik via The Daily Mail, Galatasaray are eager to try and seal a deal for Thiago and have already held talks over a potential transfer for the Spaniard. It appears that the European giants have even tabled an offer for the midfielder already – one that is thought to be "good" – and that they have sent one of their key figures to visit Liverpool in order to try and push through a move.

Right now, no medical is booked and no official deal has been agreed. However, it does look as though things could be progressing in terms of sending the central player to Turkey and allowing him to leave Liverpool on a deal this summer window.

Thiago is still a very good option in the centre of midfield, with current boss Jurgen Klopp only last year hailing the ability of the player. The German stated that his midfielder is "outstanding" and has a "sensational overview" of a game when he features in it.

If he did leave, then it could prove to be a blow for Liverpool, as he is capable of brilliance. However, with the Reds undergoing a rebuild in the middle of the pitch, it could be the right time for the 32-year-old to leave Anfield, making this one to watch over the coming days and weeks.
